Shrimp croquettes

Crispy on the outside and creamy on the inside, these shrimp-filled croquettes are a perfect appetizer or starter.

Ingredients

  • 300 g cooked shrimp (finely chopped)
  • 30 g butter
  • 30 g flour
  • 250 ml milk
  • Salt, pepper, nutmeg
  • 1 egg (beaten)
  • Breadcrumbs
  • Oil for frying

Steps

  1. Melt the butter in a pan. Add the flour and sauté for 1-2 minutes, stirring constantly.
  2. Gradually add the milk until you have a thick, lump-free béchamel sauce.
  3. Add the chopped shrimp and season with salt, pepper, and nutmeg.
  4. Let the mixture cool completely (preferably in the refrigerator for 1 hour).
  5. Form small croquettes, dipping them first in the egg and then in the breadcrumbs.
  6. Fry them in hot oil until golden brown. Drain on kitchen paper.
